SHERMAN, Texas — Grayson County is taking precautions after “statewide, coordinated cyber-attacks” infected more than 20 government agencies across Texas. The county shut down all government computer systems on Friday evening; public Wi-Fi was turned off at the courthouse.
Grayson County Commissioners agreed to spend $5,000 Tuesday to update a $32,000 master plan for the Grayson County Courthouse. The plan was originally produced back in 2000.Grayson County Purchasing Agent Jeff Schneider said the court authorized, some years ago, Architexas to come in and do a master plan for the courthouse.
The sun shined brightly on the north courtyard at the Grayson County Courthouse Tuesday as friends, family and former constituents gathered to dedicate a bench to former Grayson County Sheriff Keith Gary.Those who spoke at Tuesday’s brief ceremony praised Gary’s long service to the county and his dedication to public service.
Grayson County had an eventful 2018. For the second year in a row, Grayson County Commissioners lowered the tax rate. Commissioners approved a tax rate of 45.8 cents per $100 valuation.Grayson County Judge Bill Magers said the tax rate, in conjunction with the county’s growth, would fund a similar budget as was adopted the previous year.
